Family Promise Modesto

What Does FPOGM Do?

In collaboration with 10 congregations in our community we give hope to homeless families with children by:

  • Providing safe, temporary housing
  • Support services for families to find housing
  • Collaborate with other service organizations to support families as they seek employment and housing

Families Promise of Greater Modesto is unique because of the way our services are delivered. Unlike most emergency shelters, the families in our emergency shelter do not sleep together in a 24-hour central facility. Instead, our overnight services are provided in a network of Modesto area congregations. You can read more about the services MFP Host Congregations and Staff provide on our services page.

Who is involved?

Family Promise of Greater Modesto currently has a 4 member volunteer board and 3 full and part-time paid staff. Shelter and suport is provided by our Hosting and Supporting congregations

Who Do We Serve?

Family Promise of Greater Modesto served 12 families in 2007, including 20 children under the age of 18. Since the beginning of 2008, we have served 10 families, including 17 children. Twelve of these children under 6 years old.

Seven of the 12 families we served in 2007, that completed the program moved into permanent housing (transitional or independent housing). Of the 10 families we have served in 2008 so far, 3 have moved into permanent housing. Four of them are still in the program working towards their independence.
